Team Building & Networking Sessions

TEAM BUILDING & NETWORKING SESSIONS

Navajo Division of Social Services Executive Director Thomas Cody continues to provide opportunities to elevate and challenge our Division’s management team and his staff within the Executive Office. This week on Wed (Nov 29) and Thurs (Nov 30) all NDSS Managers and Executive Staff participated in TEAM BUILDING & NETWORKING SESSIONS. Executive Director Cody began with a heartfelt message which included, “I want to set a path for our elders, children and families- so they see a light at the end of the tunnel – giving them hope”.

The team building sessions incorporated our Dine’ culture within each of the leadership opportunities and focused on Employee Happiness & Wellness which highlights one of President Nygren’s platform initiatives. The self-care component included healing information shared by traditional practitioners who spoke to Holistic Wellness and participation in a Healing Circle.

However, one of the main focuses was to advance President Nygren’s commitment to improve services for our Navajo children and families. As this 2-day team session’s overall goal was to reinforce the Division’s rebranding initiative; wherein inspirational ideas flowed by management and Executive staff who encompassed a unified mission of placing focus on our children in all arenas of service. Several of the Leadership sessions were hosted by Honorable members of the Health, Education & Human Services Committee who shared inspirational words of reminders, encouragement, enlightenment, and appreciation to all Division staff (Great job Team!). The Networking Sessions included contributions from Arizona Senator Theresa Hatathlie (D-6), Miss Navajo Nation, Apache County Attorney, a fellow Arizona tribal Social Services Director and a manager from the Office of AZ Attorney General who covered a broad range of topics.

The biggest success continues to be the building of a unified division leadership who connected, laughed and strengthened a shared vision – that we are excited to share at the Winter Symposium.

“I want to set a path for our elders, children and families- so they see a light at the end of the tunnel – giving them hope”.
